We want to make a change
In the BELVEDERE HOTEL FAMILY, sustainability and social commitment are of great importance. That is why we are involved in various areas. These include projects to protect nature and wildlife, but also to train skilled employees in our industry. We also support local associations to strengthen our region. Building measures and process optimisations in our own company that benefit the environment are not to be missed.
GreenSign certification
With a strong team to the goal
In order to make the processes and facilities in our hotels more sustainable, we have set up an internal sustainability council. The council, consisting of employees from all departments, meets regularly and decides on further measures. This work has now led to us achieving «GreenSign Level 4» in the GreenSign Hotel certification.

Photovoltaic system
Our passerelle now produces electricity
Part of our «Cause-We-Care» fund is earmarked for investments in the hotel's own sustainable projects. From this we have now been able to finance the new photovoltaic system along the south front of the passerelle.

VW ID. Buzz with complete e-drive
In the gradual renewal of our vehicle fleet, which we use for transporting guests and materials for hotel operations, we also want to incorporate sustainability considerations.
Award from TourCert
Destination is the first to receive the «Sustainable Destination» label
In mid-August, the Engadin Scuol Zernez and Val Müstair holiday region became the first destination in Switzerland to be awarded the «Sustainable Destination» label by TourCert. Social, ecological and economic dimensions within the destination are taken into account.

Swisstainable
Swainable is the name of Switzerland Tourism's sustainability programme. It is the promise of tourism to pursue the 17 UN sustainability goals with the Agenda 2030 and provides guests with orientation about the commitment of the respective hotel business that bears the badge. The BELVEDERE HOTEL FAMILY is also a member, and we already carry Level III (leading) with our efforts.
Responsible Hotels of Switzerland
Sustainable hotels in Switzerland
With our hotels, we are also a member of the «Responsible Hotels of Switzerland». The association was founded by hotels for hotels and offers hotels that have implemented pioneering sustainability projects a platform to present themselves to guests with a desire for sustainable holiday accommodation.
Sustainable food
Regional or local wherever possible
The sourcing and offering of regional or local food is also anchored in our sustainability strategy. The products are special simply because they have grown or flourished in small quantities in the alpine air with their seasons. The short delivery routes and the sourcing from local agriculture also make these delicacies extremely sustainable.
For the next generation in the hotel industry
Certified as a «TOP apprenticing company»
The BELVEDERE HOTEL FAMILY has successfully reached the first stage of the support system of the TOP-Ausbildungsbetrieb (TAB) foundation. We now receive certification as a «TOP apprenticing company», which identifies businesses that are particularly committed to training young people.
Cooperation «Cause We Care»
Clean drinking water in Uganda
Water is a great gift of nature, especially in Scuol, as it was the mineral springs that made tourism in the Lower Engadine possible in the first place and still promotes it today. With the cooperation "Cause We Care" we support a water project in Uganda, which provides clean drinking water in households and schools with drinking water filters.
New roof with nesting places
Living space for swifts
When the roof and façade of the Belvedere were renewed in 2018, the focus was on insulation and thus reducing heating costs and emissions. But the renovation of the roof also had another benefit and that was for wildlife.

Natural care products in the SPA Vita Nova
Not only in our kitchen do we pay attention to high-quality products, but also in our SPA Vita Nova. With our two care lines, we pamper you with the best natural cosmetics. Even the packaging of the care series is 100% recyclable and printed with vegetable colours.
Effective measures
Reduction of resource consumption in the hotels
Sustainability is also part of our daily business, for example with the reduction of internal resource consumption. We are constantly adapting our processes and making our offers more sustainable without compromising the holiday experience of our guests.
Project «Lighthouse»
Energy-efficient hotels in the Grisons
The project «Lighthouse - Energy-efficient Hotels Graubünden» was awarded the Milestone 2014 tourism prize in 2014. It shows hotels concrete ways to reduce their energy consumption and CO2 emissions while saving costs. The hotels participating in the project take part in the EnAW energy management system and work closely with an EnAW consultant. Hotels and tourism businesses from the canton of Graubünden have concluded a target agreement with the federal government with the support of the EnAW.
Social commitment
Training contribution in Bhutan
In the BELVEDERE HOTEL FAMILY, by consuming tap water, you support the «Bhutan Middle Management Hotel Programme (BMMHP)» training programme in Bhutan, which aims to train well-qualified middle management professionals for the ever-growing and extremely important tourism sector in Bhutan.
Sustainable indulgence
Compostable coffee capsules at the GuardaVal
Coffee capsules are a convenient way to enjoy a good coffee and a clean affair especially in hotel rooms. However, the sustainability of capsules is hotly debated. The family-owned company Graf-Kaffee from Baden-Dättwil has taken a step in the right direction and now sells its coffee in compostable capsules.
