The Abbey Library of St. Gallen, founded by Gallus, is one of the most important historical libraries in the world. With its collection of outstanding quality, spanning from the 8th century to the present day, it is the only one of the great monastic libraries of the early Middle Ages whose collection has remained more or less intact.
