«HOF ZU WIL» IN THE OLD TOWN

A historical exploration tour

Far beyond the borders of the city and region of Wil, the «Hof zu Wil» is one of the most valuable cultural assets. It has experienced a lot in its 800-year history: 500 years of abbots and almost 200 years of beer brewing have left their mark.

But the rest of the old town of the Aebtestadt Wil also has a lot to offer. A walk through the alleys or the view in front of the St. Nicholas Church will inspire you.

Climb the unique wooden structure and enjoy the magnificent view. The Wiler landmark, visible from far and wide, can only be reached on foot via the marked paths. Access to the starting points Oelberg, Grueben, Langegg/Turm Hofberg or Städeli is provided by the Wil city bus. From the bus stop, the footpaths to the tower are signposted (approx. 10 – 15 minutes' walk).

Hörnli - Zurich highlands

Mühle Matzingen

The landmark of Matzingen can be seen from afar. In the Thurgau municipality near Frauenfeld, the green silo of the Matzingen mill stands as a witness to a bygone era. The mill no longer grinds, the mill lives. With this principle in mind, a modern restaurant was created in the Matzingen mill in 1998.

The kitchen offers seasonal dishes and meat specialties from the mill's own Schnuckenhof. Heidschnucken, Dexter cattle and Pinzgauer cattle as well as llamas are bred on the company's own farm, which are processed into specialties at the Mühli. For banquets, the Mühli restaurant has a wide range of menus.
